An agreement to develop distance learning in higher education was signed last week between Cned, France's national distance-learning centre, and the heads of the associations representing university presidents, directors of engineering schools and directors of teacher-training institutes.
The organisations are committed to "giving France an eminent place in European and international plans" and to establishing online initial and continuing education programmes validated by diplomas.
