The World Intellectual Property Organisation has been accused of attempting to rush through a treaty which could restrict educational and research use of databases. One of the draft treaties now under discussion in Geneva would extend copyright to databases. The Electronic Frontier Foundation (www.eff.org) fears that there will be no provision for "fair use".
