Malaysian deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has announced the formation of a national student consultative council. The council will act as a forum for university students to air grievances and engage in dialogue with the government. The move comes in the wake of widespread student support for imprisoned ex-deputy leader Anwar Ibrahim.
