Further education colleges in Northern Ireland have introduced recovery plans after growing debt levels.
The Department for Employment and Learning, which is overseeing a review of further education funding, has been told that debt overall has increased to £4.4 million.
Lisburn and Castlereagh colleges, both on the outskirts of Belfast, have begun to implement financial recovery plans and the North West and North East institutes are developing schemes.
