Disabilities aid call

More must be done to improve education for people with learning difficulties or disabilities, according to a report published this week by a Further Education Funding Council advisory committee. It recommends changing funding rules, introducing college inspections and developing closer links between agencies. About 130,000 FE students - 5 per cent - have learning difficulties or disabilities but many more are missing out because colleges could not meet their needs.
