Northumbria University is proud of its history of excellent relationships with its local Chief Constables - so much so that it even made Lord Stevens, the Chief Constable of Northumbria Police in the first half of the 1990s, its chancellor last month. But relations may prove to be a little more difficult with the new Chief Constable, Mike Craik. While the university continues to make great play on Newcastle's status as one of the world's greatest "party cities" to attract students, Mr Craik has just launched a summer-long campaign against anti-social behaviour called "the party's over".
