Further education chiefs expressed "extreme concerns" over financial, management and quality problems at Basildon College this week.
Further Education Funding Council chief executive David Melville called on governors for responses to the findings of an FEFC investigation into more than 50 complaints, a deterioration in the college's financial position and a damning inspection report. Principal Chris Chapman has been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation.
