Golfers Seve Ballesteros and Colin Montgomerie will receive honorary degrees of doctor of laws from the University of St Andrews in July.

Warwick University is to award honorary degrees to: Baroness Amos, a government whip in the House of Lords and spokesperson on international development (LLD); Sir John Browne, chief executive of BP (DSc); Sir Terry Frost, artist (DLitt); De Anne Julius, independent member of the Monetary Policy Committee (LLD); Sir John Krebs, head of the Food Standards Agency (DSc); Jane Lapotaire, actress (DLitt); Jacob Palis, president of the International Mathematical Union (DSc); Barry Supple, director of the Leverhulme Trust (DLitt); and Lord Hunt, professor in climate modelling at the department of space and climate physics of University College London.

The University of Bristol will award honorary degrees to: Ralph Benjamin, visiting professor of engineering at the university (DEng); Keith Burgess, patron of the Campaign for Resource (LLD); Madeline Caviness, historian of medieval art (DLitt); Arnold Denman, supporter of university cancer research (MA); Laurie Hall, professor of medicinal chemistry at the University of Cambridge (DSc); Michael Hamlin, former principal and vice-chancellor of the University of Dundee (DEng); Andreas Kazamias, emeritus professor of education, University of Athens (DLitt); Dame Sheila Masters, chartered accountant (LLD); Terence Mordaunt, owner and manager of the port of Bristol (LLD); Ed Morrison, international rugby referee (MA); Monica Simms, former BBC radio and television producer and controller (DLitt); Christopher Stringer, anthropologist (LLD); Marko Turina, cardiac surgeon (MD); Martin West, chairman of the university joint social club (MSc); and philanthropist Garfield Weston, (LLD).

The London Institute has awarded honorary fellowships to: Dame Antonia Byatt, author; Alan Fletcher, designer; Ewen Henderson, ceramics artist; Norbert Lynton, art historian; and Sean Scully, painter. Illustrator Quentin Blake has received an honorary doctorate from the institute.
