The Arts and Humanities Research Board has predicted a decline in success rates among applicants for postgraduate research grants after recording a 20 per cent increase in applications this year.
The AHRB received 5,408 applications, almost three-quarters from graduates with first-class degrees. The AHRB is increasing funding for both masters and doctoral students.
