China is to greatly increase its investment in higher education distance learning over the next three years to facilitate the build-up of the country's educational infrastructure, and provide for the millions of people who miss out on higher education.
The aim is to construct multilevel, multiform and multifunctional long-distance education networks as a means of providing lifelong learning for a much larger number of citizens, according to vice-minister of education Wei Yu.
