Irving to debate free speech at Oxford Union

Oxford Union is standing by its decision to invite David Irving, the Holocaust denier, to address students in a debate on May 10.

He will oppose the motion, "this house would restrict free speech of extremists". Richard Rampton QC, the barrister who successfully defended academic Deborah Lipstadt after her book accused Mr Irving of being a Holocaust denier, will support the motion. The Anti-Nazi League is trying to prevent the debate.
