Revamped National Grid unveiled
Michael Wills, minister for learning and technology, will today launch a revamped National Grid for Learning. The site, at www.ngfl.gov.uk , includes links to higher education institutions, museums and galleries, lifelong learning opportunities and career development sites.

Scots launch campaign against depression
Students leaders at Edinburgh, Heriot-Watt and Napier universities have formed a campaign to help depressed students. Dan Hannard, president of Edinburgh's students association, said this was a particularly difficult period. "The excitement of starting uni has disappeared, students have left the comforts of home, and there is also the stress of exams."

Chaos puts lecturer off the rails
Portsmouth University maths lecturer Michael McCabe is beating the rail chaos by travelling to work via two ferries and a 32km cycle ride. He became so fed up with the unreliable 80km train commute from home in Sway, Hampshire, that he now travels across the Isle of Wight.
