University employers chief appointed
Jocelyn Prudence has been appointed chief executive of the Universities and Colleges Employers Association. Ms Prudence will succeed Peter Humphreys on March 5 and will represent universities and colleges in negotiations with trade unions over pay.
Warwick drops plan to make laptops compulsory
Warwick University is set to drop plans to make laptop computers compulsory for all students from 2003 after the National Union of Students said the scheme was elitist. The union called it a back door plan to hike tuition fees.
Abertay Dundee woos local pupils
The University of Abertay Dundee has launched a scheme to enrol local school pupils as part-time students in a project aimed at combating Dundee city's low rate of higher education participation.
