Alaksandr Lukashenko, president of Belarus, has told university rectors that he is putting this year's higher education entrance exams under his personal control through specially appointed monitors - young people from the Union of Belarusian Patriotic Youth, an organisation set up at his initiative and modelled on of the League of Communist Youth of the Soviet era.
