Sir John Maddox, former editor of Nature, offers hope to all who fear old age. Although he is still fit and alert, Nottingham Trent University is about to give him him an honorary DLitt for his role in "the establishment and development of one of the world's most prominent scientific journals". The first issue of Nature appeared in 1869.
