Indonesia is under pressure from the United States to investigate the assassination of Safwan Idris, rector of the Ar Raniry State Institute of Islamic Studies in Banda Aceh. Human Rights Watch said Professor Idris was shot dead in his home on September 16. Yolanda Moses, president of the American Association for Higher Education, has urged Indonesia's government to investigate "immediately and thoroughly".
