Nottingham-born fashion designer Paul Smith will fund a scholarship programme that allows fashion students to gain a first-hand insight into the Japanese fashion industry. Each year, two students from Nottingham Trent University's School of Art and Design will visit Japan for ten weeks to study at universities there, while two Japanese students will come to the UK to study on Nottingham's MA Fashion Futures programme. The Smith Japan/UK Scholarship Scheme is set to run for five years initially.
