The Labour Party's student organisation is being urged to merge with its youth wing to form a new body free to criticise the government and party when necessary. In a pamphlet published this week, Peter Hain, the leader of the Commons and Welsh secretary, calls for the merger of Labour Students and Young Labour. He says the new youth section would need to reengage with all young people.
