The Open University has teamed up with Western Governors University to offer degrees in the United States.
Each is putting up $4 million to create the Governors Open University System, which will offer distance-learning higher education courses accredited by the OU's US subsidiary and a number of other US universities.
The first students on the Governors Open University System will enrol in March, subject to the OU-US gaining the accreditation that it is seeking.
