Italy has announced a ¤20 billion (Pounds 13 billion) education plan for 2000-06 to combat unemployment and improve workers' qualifications. The project aims to promote collaboration between universities, schools, vocational training organisations and employers. Italy will provide 83 per cent of the costs, and European sources the remainder.
