Almost 100 Italian researchers and academics are being encouraged to return to Italy with funding worth €12 million (£7.8 million).
The researchers were selected from 163 applications. Most (20) are physicists, followed by 16 mathematicians and information technology experts and smaller numbers in other scientific disciplines, plus a minority in the humanities. Twenty-two are from the US and 16 are from the UK.
