Liverpool John Moores University has won funding for an £8 million International Space and Astronomy Centre. This will be a joint venture between Mersey Ferries, with its parent company Merseytravel, and the Astrophysics Research Institute at LJMU. Substantial backing will come from the European Regional Development Fund and Wirral Waterfront. The Department for Culture, Media and Sport is contributing more than £2 million.
