Universities using postgraduates as cut-price lecturers may be risking the quality of student learning and research, according to a survey. Research by the Association of University Teachers, National Union of Students and National Postgraduate Committee shows that 58 per cent of the 233 postgraduate respondents received no training in teaching. Yet nearly a fifth of the courses taught by the respondents were final-year or masters.
