Turkey's military this week called for legal restrictions to halt Turkish students studying in Islamic countries.
The demand follows YOK's decision late last year to stop recognising degrees awarded by universities in several Islamic countries. Its withdrawal of recognition of degrees from Cairo's Al-Azhar University led to a diplomatic row between Turkey and Egypt.
In the past few months the military and the press have been making allegations that Turkish students who had studied in Islamic countries received military training by Islamic groups.
