An international conference celebrating the cult author W. G. Sebald - a memorial that the man himself "would have hated", according to the event's organiser, Amanda Hopkinson - will be hosted by the University of East Anglia. Speakers will include novelist Will Self and Anthea Bell, who has translated the writer's work from its original German. Delegates will be taken on a walking tour of Suffolk landmarks that appear in Sebald's novels. The conference will run from 5 to 7 September.
