A researcher at the University of Edinburgh claims to have debunked the myth that the Pilgrim Fathers - among the first English settlers in America - were all committed explorers. Susan Hardman Moore, senior lecturer at the School of Divinity, found that a quarter of them left New England to return home after the end of the English Civil War. She said that the changing religious landscape in Britain and new opportunities to make money there contributed to their return.
