Teachers from the Caribbean have visited a UK university as part of a scheme designed to improve maths and science standards in West Indian schools. The University of Reading is working with the University of the West Indies on the "Champion Teachers" project. It focuses on subjects in which Caribbean children have in the past performed poorly. An initial group of 14 teachers, along with two academics, spent 10 days at the university's Institute of Education for an advanced training programme, visiting local schools as part of the scheme.
