A £5 million research facility to lead the fight against superbugs is being set up at the University of St Andrews. The Wellcome Trust is funding the centre as part of the university's biomedical sciences research complex, studying diseases such as Rift Valley fever and malaria, and hospital-acquired infections such as MRSA and Clostridium difficile. It will bring together researchers from medicine, physics, chemistry and biology.
