Letters and documents relating to the guardianship at Tutbury Castle of Mary, Queen of Scots - which include four signed by Queen Elizabeth I - are among a collection of rare books and manuscripts that have been deposited at Lancaster University by Lord Hesketh for ten years. Lord Hesketh is chairman of the Conservative Party Foundation and a former Chief Whip in the House of Lords. The collection also includes a Shakespeare first folio and one of the finest examples of John James Audubon's illustrated Birds of America.
