Educated by missionaries, then into the army at the age of 18. Just the sort of education guaranteed to produce the ideal citizen in these morally challenged times - or so you would think from some of the outpourings of the last few weeks. Nice to know then, that it turned out so well for the possessor of this splendid start in life, alumnus to be proud of No 74: the late Jean-Bedel Bokassa. The good news for academic life is that he had no higher education at all - just as well really. Imagine what he might have accomplished armed with an MBA.
