Oxford University Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies has launched a Pounds 5-million appeal for its silver jubilee next year. The centre started the academic year with a new director, Bernard Wasserstein, and a new chair of governors, Sir Richard Greenbury, chairman of Marks and Spencers.
