My codpiece almost fell off when I saw the crude sexism displayed in your headline "Grants and pants - Lord May on why women are less thrusting" (News, 21 May). The writer is female, so perhaps a roguish male editor is to blame for this misguided attempt at humour.
The point is that the outsize egos of male scientists lead to their greater germination of grants. Pelvic motions have nothing to do with it.
