LSE group backs academy

September 25, 2008

Your coverage of the British Academy report Punching Our Weight: The Humanities and Social Sciences in Public Policy Making, ("Humanities overlooked by politicians", 18 September) accurately draws attention to a small difference of emphasis in the wider research report that the London School of Economics Public Policy Group prepared for the academy.

But may I just clarify that all of us at the PPG agree 100 per cent with the 20 recommendations in the academy's report, which sets out an important and immediately feasible agenda for change in charting the extensive impacts of the social sciences and humanities on UK public policy.

Patrick Dunleavy, Chair, London School of Economics Public Policy Group.
