Mary Evans accuses Richard Branson of helping to sexualise our culture by choosing the brand name, Virgin ("Lolita, lolly and lost girls", 1 May). Yet this ancient word has strongly positive connotations for the religious among us, as suggested by its synonyms, "spotless" and "undefiled". Perhaps easyJet would have served her argument better?
