Those who are uncertain about the just demands and actions for better pay by lecturers should consult two job advertisements for London universities in The Times Higher of May 19.
The job descriptions are peppered with phrases such as "student-centred focus", "complex environment", "pragmatic can-do approach", "funding streams that support knowledge transfer", "dynamic individual influencer" and so on.
The posts are registrar and director of admissions and director of knowledge dock. The remuneration for increasing the paperwork, meetings and student targets of course leaders and lecturers is £75,000 a year for one post and "£s attractive" for the other. I rest my case.
