The statement that "the flood of fee-paying foreign students entering Australia's universities has slowed to a trickle" ("Tighter visa rules threat", February 17) is not correct.
In the 11 months to the end of November 2005 there were 66,201 new international students enrolling in higher education in Australia, up 0.8 per cent from the 65,663 in the first 11 months of 2004.
Growth has slowed, but the flood has not become a trickle.
