It is encouraging that the Government recognises the fact that lamentably small numbers of British students go to study in India and that the Prime Minister's visit in September could help to improve matters ("Blair digs deep to fund India link", August 12).
In the meantime, prospective students might like to know that since its inception, the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission has helped about a hundred UK students to undertake postgraduate work in India, with funding from the Indian authorities.
The applications deadline for assistance from the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission for those wishing to study in India and other Commonwealth countries is October 14, 2005. Those interested should take a look at our website (www.csfp-online.org) or telephone Gina Evans on 0207 380 6716.
