The report on the Association of University Teacher's study of The Unequal Academy (October 1) overlooked a vital aspect of the casualisation of higher education. It hardly touched on the plight of hourly paid lecturers such as myself. In some institutions we could be delivering up to half the teaching load. But we suffer even more casualisation than those on fractional, fixed-term contracts. It's time the unions recognised we exist.
