Some may mock a parody of accreditation of Apel, I do not. The jocular comments attributed to me require me to spell out the "joke".
My 2000 report confirmed that institutional procedures are generally robust in securing public confidence in Apel, although questions about work-based learning remain.
The recognition of Apel poses credible intellectual challenges to traditional definitions of authenticity and validity in higher learning. As we widen participation, that's both timely and good, no joke.
