Ethics is not a field in itself, as Simon Lee makes out (Why I, THES , September 5) - it is interdisciplinary. Teaching it depends on epistemology and the study of perception, human nature and ideology.
Insights are gained from art and social science. Whether it is better to study ethics badly or not at all is surely the question.
