I was delighted to see Sir Derek Roberts citing London Technology Network ("Narrow focus key to London innovation", THES, June 13) but concerned that this may have left readers confused.
London Technology Network is funded by the English funding council to build links between companies and universities with 4*-plus technology research departments.
We help them to recruit and train research scientists with an industrial focus. Each department chooses different foci of activity, concentrating on different aspects of education, research and commercialisation. We are working with 80 departments across London and expect this to increase to more than 100.
We have links with 18 universities and colleges including Brunel, Queen Mary, Birkbeck, St George's Hospital Medical School, King's, Imperial and University College London.
