Academics should guard against simplistic solutions designed more to demonise the Jewish State of Israel and its people than to criticise the political policies of a democratically elected government.
Some Jewish students who support Israel have experienced intimidation on UK campuses. They too are entitled to academic freedom. They expect academics to behave in a balanced, temperate fashion and have a right to be protected.
I am ashamed to be part of the same profession as those who justify and promote bigoted, racist actions against fellow academics in Israel, many of whom work hard for multicultural tolerance and cooperation in the Middle East.
