Expert advice to help academics set up a spin-off company is offered in a new book by a professor and businessman. The guide, Spin-outs: Creating Businesses from University Intellectual Property, was written by Graham Richards, former head of chemistry at the University of Oxford, who set up the successful spin-off Oxford Molecular. It aims to help those thinking about commercialising intellectual property or creating their own private company to generate a profit from their research, he said.
