Your leader says I am not a maverick. But I am, as is anyone these days who believes that universities and their staff should be trusted to do a good job, until they demonstrate that they cannot. This would apply to any university that does not have well-funded and benign appraisal and associated professional development arrangements for its staff, with sanctions for those who show that they cannot be trusted to take advantage of them.
