Local library cooperation is again on the agenda (Letters, THES , April 13). In 1972-73 I led a Department of Education and Science-sponsored research project into local library cooperation in Sheffield. The resulting model was the basis for schemes throughout the country. Given the wealth of experience on how to manage such collaboration, why waste taxpayers' money in setting up working groups? Contact me, I shall be happy to tell ministers how to do it - for a much smaller fee.
