Labour will abolish maintenance grants for students and reform the student loans scheme, shadow education and employment secretary David Blunkett told BBC Radio 4's Analysis programme set to be broadcast last night (repeat Sunday 4pm). But he said that he was "not yet" convinced it would be right to end free tuition for full-time students in higher education. He hoped for clarity from the Dearing committee and would listen to their recommendations.
