* Females comprised 51.1 per cent of the student population in 1995/96 compared with 49.7 per cent in 1994/95

* The proportion of students studying at first-degree level fell from 63.5 per cent in 1994/95 to 61 per cent in 1995/96, while the proportion of students studying at other undergraduate levels rose from 15.1 per cent in 1994/95 to17.5 per cent in 1995/96
