University of Dundee Marion McMurdo, gerontologist, former deputy medical director of Drug Development Scotland Ltd, vice chairman of the disability and continuing health care committee of the Chief Scientist's Office and adviser for the South African Council for the Aged, has been appointed to the newly created chair of ageing and health, funded by Dundee Healthcare Trust.

University of Stirling Ian Thomson, former director of physical recreation and higher education consultant for the Lawn Tennis Association, is now visiting professor of elite sports studies.
University of Leeds Barbara Ansell, former research fellow at the Research and Education Hospital in Chicago, founder of the Joint Regional Juvenile Arthritis Service and patron of the Children's Chronic Arthritis Association, has been appointed to a visiting professorship.
