Staff at John Moores University had a field day when vice chancellor Peter Toyne encouraged them to ask him questions as part of the annual university survey. Among the questions asked of the v-c were: "Whose stupid idea was it to introduce semesters?" and "Do you not feel it would be in JMU's interest if you took early retirement?" When asked "If JMU was a Beatles' song, which one would it be?", Professor Toyne could not quite decide between A Hard Day's Night or Help!.
