“The week in higher education” (13 March) notes that two Oxford pro vice-chancellors rebutted Luke Johnson’s claims “that the university had been slow to adapt to the world of online learning” by referring to the university’s 1.4 million Facebook and Twitter followers. The Swedish death metal band In Flames has 135,000 Twitter followers and is “liked” by 1,176,076 people, as opposed to the 1,392,394 who “like” the University of Oxford. I think the evidence supports Johnson’s hypothesis.
